I am interetested in beginning programming for the Android, because I am considering purchasing a Motorola Backflip and want to be able to develop applications for it.

I have not coded before, and would like some pointers on where I can begin.

For my first application, I would like to create an application that will change the brightness of the device depending on the time of day. Could anyone help me create such an application?

I'd like a tutorial on managing other apps' permissions. I've never seen anything besides the poorly documented ACL support that would allow you to, for example, not let an app read your contacts.

I have had a look around and haven't seen anything about RESTful web services? I think a tutorial on these would be good, a way of being able to communicate from the android application to some server in order to read data from it or something.

I would like a tutorial on how to access/implement the "share via" aspects of Android. I've searched and haven't found a tutorial yet, but there are a bunch of apps out there that do this. So somebody knows.

What I am looking for is the ability to share the current content, or a piece of text, etc., via SMS or email. It doesn't have to be anything fancy...maybe just a button or menu item that is "Share via SMS" or "Share via Email."
