Driving directions in 0.9 SDK

Postby jsharkey » Sat Aug 23, 2008 7:54 am

Just found an excellent way of showing driving directions in the 0.9 SDK:

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1.
  2. this.startActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW,
  3.
  4. Uri.parse("http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=37.4,-121.9&daddr=Bellevue, WA&hl=en")));
  5.
  6.
Parsed in 0.031 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

Great jsharkey!

@plusminus: will you update the tutorials to the SDK 0.9 side of things?

Hi jsharkey,

I didn't try DrivinDirection on sdk 0.9 yet, but I think that now we can only "visualize" a route on a WebPage and not on a mapView anymore!!!

This is a big problem for applications that needs a mapView not only to show a route but also to show addictional information like a "MyPosition Point" or "Boe's Pub"

What about this?

PICK a LOCATION ?

Postby magellan » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:38 am

Like ACTION_VIEW can be used to show a driving direction (or a simple location), is there any way to call an Intent to PICK a location ? I just want to start Google maps, centered onmy current location, pick a location in the map, an return the position in my application. Anybody tried ?
