Hello Community,

[/Update]

the new Android GUI seems to be revealed. What you see is a prototype of the Google Android mobile by NEC is on display at the Mobile World Congress (formerly 3GSM World Congress) in Barcelona, February 11, 2008. The Mobile World Congress will run from February 11 till 14.

The new GUI seems a bit overloaded, but the menus are probably popping up, when one hits the menu key or taps the screen. Compared to the old Home-Menu the new one uses a lot more of the screen to display functionality. NEC is not a member of the OpenHandset Alliance so one cannot be 100% sure yet if this is the real new Android GUI.

[Update] We can be sure, this IS the new Android GUI, coming with the next SDK-Release :!:

It does look very crowded, will reserve judgment until we can actually see it in action for ourselves in the next SDK.

Yeah I hope it's really customisable.
I would be interested if someone has programmed in a Gadgets-type front page so you can addon clocks, weather, etc.

Oops! Did I give away anyone's Contest entry idea? ;)

It will be, as Google said, you can replace EVERYTHING, even the dialing, SMS, contacts and so on applications. It's one of the main android advantages.

I think WauloK was talking about especially that Home-Screen.
It looks good, but is pretty overfilled and needs to be customizable itself not to annoy users.

I don't like UI from NEC. Classic UI is more pleasant imho :)

It is the official new Android GUI. ;)
I like it but it looks really overfilled with icons, I hope the menu-icons can be customized or "popped up".

I attended on "Android code day" arranged by Google last week. First they planned to release m4 SDK, but decided to wait till m5 is ready. M5 will be released in couple of weeks, and there will be a lot of new stuff like new UI , multymedia and so on.

:x we are already waiting since day one for an actual update (excluding the updates that did only minor fixes)... :x

I have to say I am a bit disappointed and therefore I hope the new SDK will overwhelm me
