Forum Remake - Report Bugs

Postby plusminus » Mon May 17, 2010 4:35 pm

Hello Community,

as you might have noticed, there was a big makeover of this forum.

All posts have been conserved, some accounts with unusual passwords might require to renew their passwords. I hope all links pointing to this site are still working.

I did my best to make everything work as flawless as before, (10 hours of sweat) but one can never know if everything works as before.

So when you experience something like a dead link, a error in the layout or anything similar, please report it here!

Have fun with the new forum :)

Best Regards,
Nicolas

Thanks for this new layout :) Nice job :) That's a nice surprise !

I love the main layout (the header and background) : it looks great ! I think though the post windows are too dark (only my opinion ;) )

Not sure if it can be reported as a bug, more as an optimisation : when you get to the forum list, you see who posted the last, is it possible to display the subject too ?

Again : great work !

Hi,

thanks :)

I think adding another column in the forums-list might make the layout 'explode' :|
If I remember right it had been the same before.

Best Regards,
Nicolas

There's a pretty big error in the Java parser when you insert Java code. Brackets are showing up as %40 and %41. See post43552.html#p43552

Loving the new look by the way.

Hi,

seems to happen only when using
Code: Select all
[java][/java]
while
Code: Select all
[sytnax="java"][/syntax]
works.
Made it so that you can use both:
Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. System.exit(0);
Parsed in 0.030 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. System.exit(0);
Parsed in 0.030 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

 Changed the Button.

Fixed the post mentioned.

Regards,
Nicolas

Ok, now added a Dropdown-Box:
Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. System.exit();
Parsed in 0.033 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using xml Syntax Highlighting
  1. <foo>
  2.    <bar/>
  3. </foo>
Parsed in 0.001 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

and additonally some more languages (C, C++, Javascript, PHP, Scala, SQL) .

Regards,
Nicolas

Just wanted to thank you.
Looks really awesome and is so much better for the eyes with the dark theme.

Only wondering why the avatars are disabled.

I really hate how when you copy code posted in the new code boxes you get line numbers.... ugh

Not too bad when you just download the java examples or code but when you get xml downloads the spacing is really messed up.

Cheers

You mean that when you copy the code from the box to some other place?

Doesn't happen with me (using Chrome) what browser are you using?

Hi,

The old link should now work too.
The problem was the 'page' appendix "s15".

Thx for reporting :)

Nicolas

This is a great forum, I read it very often, so I am going to be honest here...
I do not like new layout, but hey, that is only my opinion.
What bothers me more, it is readability. Texts on the black background are hard to read, my eyes are getting tired very soon. I was wandering around the forum, reading some threads, and I found myself seeking the main information in the posts and threads lists all the time. I look on the thread list and my eyes have problem with finding the titles, I am not sure, if it is because of the low contrast or colors.
Black background of regular text + white background for source code - come on, are trying to blind us ? :)
And it is not possible to see the whole snippet of code - we must use the bar on the right, and try to peek through the "key hole" of the small window.... Very uncomfortable.

Again, this is a GREAT forum, I really appreciate your effort, but this last revolution just went wrong. For me. :)
Please, let me at least have the option to change the layout to the positive one (dark font on the light background).

P.S.
My monitor is a new, high quality 23'' LCD, so this is not the problem of my equipment. This could be a problem of my eyes, though...

Hi powell,

I appreciate your feedback.

In my opinion the forum is better readable with the dark background and the bright text...
At least my eyes say so :P

Also I like the contrast of non-code to code parts while i can understand that full-white is maybe a little to bright. :rarrow: I'll maybe make the code-boxes a little darker.

Best Regards,
Nicolas
