Hello Community,

as you can see/hear in the following video from Google-IO, we can expect something similar to Apple's AppStore, what Andy Rubin (Google) now just calls "Content-Distribution".


There is not any news, whether Google is aware of already working 'App-Store'-kind software like TrackDroid...

It's probably going to take a while until we will finally know it.

Interesting indeed.

On the one hand this sounds cool for developers (depending
on the distribution model Google's Market offers) - but on the
other hand it would be an enormous competitor for independent
distributors.

Let's wait until new details are revealed.

Maybe "Market" and "Store" will be different projects.
Market will be an application for buying multimedia content like mp3, and Store for application distribution.

An interesting idea. It's similar to how Apple has separated its iPhone App Store from iTunes. We're looking forward to distributing our Puluwai iPhone real estate search application on the iPhone App Store, and we'd love to distribute Puluwai for Android real estate search via the Market or Store or whatever it's called.

To me it makes sense to separate mobile applications from content. Some carriers provide a marketplace application that combines both into one, and it's very confusing for consumers, who often don't understand the distinction.
