Android may be here sooner then we think

Postby plusminus » Tue Aug 12, 2008 6:57 pm

Hello Community,

Android may be here sooner then we think is the headline of a article on tmonews.com . Maybe I know someone who knows someone who knows that this rumor is partially not that far fetched. :)

I need to respect the privacy concerns of some people and as Google & T-Mobile want to keep things in secret I won't tell more until there is something publicized from the official sides.

That is great news!
I have a question though:
TMONews.com wrote:This is where it gets interesting, we’re not seeing any prices for new activations during the presale, so this could mean that only current T-mobile customers can pick up the G1 during the presale. Other customers interested in the G1 may have to wait until beginning/mid October before a national public launch.

"National", does that mean in America? I surely hope it's a world-wide release!

"a 5″ long by 3″ wide touch screen"

This device should be bigger than iPhone, waiting for the details.

I will buy the phone without a plan here in Germany. A two year plan is not what I want at the moment. I just want to play with the new HTC device when it gets released. (I'm happy to live here in Germany and not be force to sign a plan with the phone)

nterestingly enough (maybe not so much knowing Google) users will be required to have a Google Gmail account for the phone to work.

That's something I dont believe and I'm pretty sure that it wont become the truth. :)

My stay abroad is just half a year, so I will have to get one without a contract, as it surely is not possible to keep on using it in Germany. :(

Maybe its not basically required, but required to use some of the features, like GoogleCalendar. Thats the only thing I could imagine.

Yeah sure. But there will be so much open and free applications that will do the same thing. So you can use it but you are also able to replace it. So I wont really call it required.
