Hello Community,

some of you may be aware of the GoogleMaps-ToS problems AndNav is having within the last weeks. So for now I can say that I established a contact with NAVTEQ (the map-data provider of GoogleMaps) and we are beginning to discuss the licensing-possibilities of NAVTEQ's map-data.

I'll try to make a good deal that I can still handle, so AndNav will still be at the lowest end of pricing.

PS: Someone got experience in setting up a company that in the end I am not the ass when someone hits a tree while driving with AndNav

I may be wrong, but I think they will all come with location based services. That does not mean that the GPS would not be optional. From the rumors I would expect that it is optional.

Although, I can't believe I would have more info than you do.

what kind of licensing problems are you having, if you dont mind me asking?

If you use google maps on your app, and plan to sell it then you have share the revenue with Google/Navteq?

Its because the GoogleMaps API ToS do not allow the creation of a Navigation App. Therefore I contacted a guy from NAVTEQ, to get some information about licensing stuff. Also I've been trying to contact Jason Chen, who is a 'Android Developer Advocate' but he seems not to receive my contact-tries.

well that seems like a hard task but good that there is light at the end of tunnel...

By the way , you could try to participate to the Navteq Challenge ang get closer to navteq/get some money
