TCP between device and PC

Postby Regis » Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:43 pm

I have applications for Palm and Windows Mobile devices and I am investigating the possibility to migrate them to Android.

Some of my applications require that the device and the PC can "talk" to each other in TCP thru the USB cable (not over internet).
On Windows Mobile this is possible because ActiveSync act as a TCP bridge and give the device acces to the PC TCP network.

Is this possible with Android device(s)

TIA

That would be awesome. If you find anything out about this can you let me know? I've been wanting to develop an app that allows tcp communication over USB also.

On a side note, check this out. If they can do tethering over USB. I'd think our issue is possible. I wonder if the source is available for this? link: http://www.cellfanatic.com/2008/11/05/t-mobile-g1-tethering-via-usb-and-android-proxy-app

any news on this? I am as well trying to find a way about communicating over USB with a program on the computer. But it seems you don't really find information online about that matter.

Any one any information about this topic?
