Send string/int from phone to pc

Postby Sapientum » Tue Nov 24, 2009 4:27 pm

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new at Android and communication development, so forgive me if I ask anything stupid/noobish ;)

I need an application that can send messages(being int, string, perhaps xml) from the phone to my pc.
I've been looking at the server/client example from:
Anddev.org - Socket programming

Can anyone think of a better way of doing it?

If not, I've come to the point where the code executes without error messages, but I don't seem to receive anything in the Android emulator... The app opens on the emulator, but then nothing else happens.

I'm not quite sure whether the problem is port- or execution-based.
I'm compiling/running all the code directly from Eclipse, but is that the proper method for testing it? I'm not sure if some of the code(the server?) should be run differently, and only the client be run from Eclipse?

Or is the problem most likely port-based? That the port isn't forwarded?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide :)
