Monitoring Data Connection Traffic

Postby LeegleechN » Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:03 am

I managed to find in the API how the see if there is inbound data, outbound data, or both over the phone's data connection. But how do I retrieve either the transfer rate or the total amount of data it has sent or recieved, instead of simply its connection state?

Accessing Network Stats Programatically

Postby de_la_espada » Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:37 pm

I was wondering whether anyone has had any more success with this.

I found :- http://groups.google.com/group/android- ... 581d15de8e

(I would have posted above using bulletin board url tags, but this is my first post, so the system is in anti-spam mode and wont let me).

I can pull the stats file onto my pc from the adb shell. But I am having a hard time getting at it via android.

I've tried adding permissions to the AndroidManifest.xml
android.permission.READ_SYNC_STATS
and also android.permission.READ_LOGS
Not this has made any difference and I didnt see any securityexception errors to begin with in the debugger.

thanks

/N
