Putting large 1080p movies to Surface Pro with best settings

Before reading this article, please consider the following two questions:

Why Microsoft's Surface Pro can't replace your laptop?

Why the Surface Pro won’t fit my computing needs?

If you are a Surface with Windows 8 Pro buyers, do you have the same problems as above?

The Surface Pro is one of the most anticipated tablet of this first quarter of 2013 and it’s easy to understand why: it is the reference tablet that is supposed to prove that a full Windows 8 Pro tablet is functional and viable and it is Microsoft’s way to set the bar for the rest of the industry. Unlike the Microsoft Surface RT, the Surface Pro uses a 1080p (1920×1080) IPS LCD display. This is great because everything looks a lot sharper. In desktop mode, Windows 8 is set to scale the system graphics by 150% so that icons and text don’t look tiny. At that scale, the absolute size of those elements are similar to what they look like in 1366×768, but are a lot sharper. It’s nice, although not all apps play nice with the Windows DPI (dot per inch) settings.

In an official statement, Microsoft has now confirmed that the actual amount of free space available on the entry-level $899 Surface Pro will be just 23 GB of storage right out of the box, a whole 41 GB less than its advertised 64 GB of storage. That's also approximately the same deficit that the higher-end 128 GB model that costs $999 will see, with only 83 GB of free space from the get-go, showing as below.

While, if you are the Surface Pro owners, you may still want to transfer some 1080p high definition movies to Surface Pro video library for playback on the go. Take the limited storage into account, before transfer a large movie to Microsoft Surface Pro, you’d better compress the video files first, which will not only help you save the storage, but also offer you smooth playback on Microsoft Widows 8 tablet.

To make a fast movie compression, Microsoft Surface Pro Video Converter is the right app to help you shrink large movie files to video clips smaller than 2GB via adjusting the video, audio parameter settings. Plus, it supports converting a wide variety of file types MOV, MTS, TiVo, MKV, AVI, FLV, VOB, MPG, etc to MP4 for playing on Surface Pro Windows 8 without video format limit.

Guide: Compress 1080p large movies to Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 for easy playback, and with best video/audio settings.

Step 1: Launch the best video convert app for Surface Pro and add source video files(1080p .avi, .mkv, .mts, .mov, .flv, .tivo, etc) into it by clicking Add button.

Step 2: Click Format menu to select “Windows” >> “Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4)” as target format.

Step 3: Hit the Settings button to custom a suitable profile for Surface with Windows 8 Pro by adjusting video and audio settings. Also, you can have a look at the estimated file size. In fact, the “Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4)” has provided the best settings for Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet. If you still wanna get a much smaller file, you can lower the video bitrate.

Step 4: Hit the Convert button; it will start to convert and transfer 1080p videos to Surface with Windows 8 Pro immediately.

After the conversion, you can easily get the resulted video files for the Surface Windows tablet via tapping the Open button. Afterwards, you can add 1080p MKV/AVI/FLV/MPG/TiVo to Surface Pro with easy playback. Don’t worry about the Microsoft Surface Pro’s video format and storage limit any more.

Tip:
If you don’t mind cutting a large movie into several clips, you can also apply the video split function with the Video Converter for Surface Pro. Learn more about it, please link to Brorsoft Video Converter.
