Getting started developing with SDL and the NDK on Windows

Postby Genya » Sat Mar 12, 2011 10:27 pm

I'm feeling like a complete n00b in need of simple, easy to understand, step-by-step help to running code that uses SDL and the NDK.

I found Pelya's awesome git here:

I tried following his instructions using cygwin for several hours now and I've been unable to compile anything using his SDL port. Not even the sample applications which he includes.

If anyone could walk me through compiling at least one simple SDL and NDK based application on Windows I would be truly eternally grateful as there is a lot of stuff I would like to port to Android (I ported a ton of SDL based shit for Wii and Dingoo over the last few years and I just bought an Android device :D). Once I can just get something compiled so I can get started developing, I promise I'll bring some awesome stuff (free and open source of course) to Android.

Thank you very much in advance for your time.
