As we alll know, Windows Movie Maker users should know that it can't surpport AVCHD .mts/.m2ts file formats. If you have many Panasonic Lumix GF5 AVCHD Footages and want to import and edit them in Windows Movie Maker, how will you make it? I believe most of users know that the best video format of Windows Movie Maker is WMV. In general, we choose a convert tool to help us to convert MTS/M2TS to WMV for XP/Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8.

Here recommended the top MTS to WMV Converter, applying which you can get your AVCHD files converted with original quality. In addition, thanks to its adoption of NVIDIA CUDA & AMD APP(ATI Stream) acceleration technology, the conversion process has been accelerated up to 5 times the speed of other converters. Thirdly, the MTS Converter has been developed with some useful editing functions, including combining several clips into one for easy importing/editing in iMovie, trimming videos, deinterlacing 1080i videos, adding text/image/video as watermarks to your original files, replacing audios, adjusting brightness/contast/saturation of the imported files, etc.

Guide: Transcode AVCHD files to WMV for editing in Window Movie Maker

Step 1: Free download the best MTS Converter and run it to add the AVCHD footages from Panasonic Lumix GF5.

Step 2: Hit the Format box and select HD Video -->WMV HD(*.wmv) on the dropdown menu as output format. Besides, you can also choose Divx HD(*.avi) as output if you have not installed the wmv codec.

Step 4: Click the arrow button on the main interface to start changing AVCHD footages to WMV on Windows Computer.

Step 5: When the conversion process is 100% completed, click Open in the main interface and you will be led to the folder where you put the converted files. Drag and drop the .WMV files in Window Movie Maker and then you can edit your Panasonic Lumix GF5 footages without any problem.

Tips on MTS to WMV conversion:

1. Please select 1920*1080 as Size(pix) and 30fps(NTSC)/25fps(PAL) as Frame Rate to get the best quality.

2. WMV's codec numbers and version numbers are not in sync. The first version of WMV is WMV 7, the video codec is wmv1. The codec of WMV 8 is wmv2 and that of WMV 9 is wmv3. And the wvc1, which you can find in our video codec options, is the known as Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile. Since the version 9 is more sutiable for HD enjoyment, we recommend set wmv9 or wvc1 as the codec. Besides, the decoder for wvc1 is included in Windows Media Player 11, so if you have installed Windows Media Player 11/12 should support the codec.

3. If you want to merge files into one for easy editing, please tick the box "Merge into one" to combine all the imported clips.

4. If you are in need of deinterlacing 50i/60i files, please click Edit to go to Video Editor, and hit Effect to select the Deinterlacing.
