Voice Recognition and String matching

Postby airwizard » Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:02 am

Hello!

I am developing an android app that uses voice recognition.
The Recognizer Intent returns an ArrayList of the potential results that match the voice. How can I compare these results to another set of Strings?

e.g. The Voice recognition result is "heillo" and the set is { "hello" , "bye" , etc}
Is there a string comparison that finds string that look alike? How can I deduce that the result matches to "hello"?

Thank you for your time.

I would recommend using Java pattern functionality using regular expressions.

So, you could come up with a regular expression for "hello" that would allow "heilo" or "healloo" whatever.

Something like ".*h*.{0,4}[aei]*.{0,3}l+[ou]+.*"
Forgive me if this expression is wonky.

Anyways, here are some links to get you started.
