Video format's

Postby Txorl » Fri Sep 26, 2008 10:45 am

Hi

I have recently played a littel bit with the mediaPlayerDemo_Video Project found in the API Demos. I am wondering which kind of videos the mediaPlayer class is able to play. The only Video that I have managed to play on the emulator is a 640 KB 3GP Video. Other 3GP Videos or formats like mp4 or avi did not work on the emulator.

Does anybody know what exact format is needed or if there is something else to consider?

Thanks in advance

Yes mp4 works finally fine. I am using a Video of 5 minutes so i suppose bigger files should work as well.

So we can't use Android to watch full length movies?

i use a 3M mp4 file, success; when i try to open a 44M mp4 file, failed. so i think too large file is can not open.

I can play 141MB file with length 23'59". It plays well.
Maybe it's the quality problem, not length.
I don't have a 120 mins or 1.4G movie file to test so I don't know if it will work :/

Apparently the guy from the Meridian Video Player says we have to limit the video size to the G1's screen resolution.

Videos Format

Postby Txorl » Wed Feb 04, 2009 6:56 pm

I have been reading and trying a lot of tutorials in the past days but i never found a specific way (that always works) in order to change the format of Videos so that they can be played on the G1.

Does anyone know a way to format videos so that they can be played on the G1(with 90% success guarantee) ?

Thanks in Advance

For Example this Tutorial:

Videofiles converted in this way do not work on my G1.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
