Can anybody please tell, how to get the image from the gallery of the phone and use it to do some animations in it??

had already visited the link vik had provided.....bt i was wondering, how can i use the image that i get from that gallery . Is it possible to select the image, that i view from that gallery, and USE it as an bitmap to do certain animation like stretching it, or editing the image..or something else.....?IF yes, how to do that?

@ naveen: I have read some parts in the books, and some parts in the tutorial and have gone through some of tHe discussion forums fr learning android. I think, you have understood what i want to do now. For now, i don't want to use any camera stuff, as i don't hav more time to submit the project(as its my school project.) How ever, the concept of using camera for getting image , (and then animate the obtained image )can also be implemented later, in my project.
Really hoping for more help.....WAITING.....

yeah you can start gallery activity with Intent.ACTION_PICK with startActivityForResult, whenever you will pick any image from gallery it will be returned as a result and you can process that image as you want

well ,i tried to use the code of making the gallery, (the one you gave me at first), there the code was properly compiled, but while running, it was forced to close.
There i had images in the res/drawables.
then, i tried to make sdcard, in my emulator and pushed some images in it frm my pc (to check if that is creating the problem), but still it didn't worked.
Does any one have any idea, what might be the problem .

and also i tried to run the HELLO VIEWS tutorial from the android developers site....but it is giving the error message : Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE

is there a way that I access images either sdcard or phone memory and store them in my database. The images here are chosen by the uses. hence i cannot hardcode the name

I also had same concept to implement in my project, except from making the database.
U can ckeck the following link fr the codes to get image frm the sdcard of emulator of phone, and select the image.
