We can get XAVC files when we shoot videos with Sony HD camcorders such as Sony PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 which are selling like hot cakes globally. XAVC was introduced by Sony and was especially developed for Sony HD camcorders. It has got its own overwhelming advantages, which are mainly shown in supporting both 4K resolution (4096 × 2160 and 3840 × 2160) at up to 60 frames per second (fps) and color depths of 8-bits, 10-bits, and 12-bits. Chroma subsampling can be 4:2:0, 4:2:2, or 4:4:4. However, it cannot be fully accepted by much popular editing software like FCP 6/7, iMovie and more due to its uniqueness, which makes it very hard for users to edit PMW-f55 footage in FCP or convert xavc to imovie for post production.

To our delight, Doremisoft has developed a great xavc converter mac to help us convert xavc to FCP or iMovie and other free editors with time and effort saving. It is a professional and handy tool to fix the XAVC problems at ease. By fast converting XAVC to Apple ProRes 422 MOV, it is a push-over for us to edit Sony pmw-f5 XAVC in FCP or iMovie without problems.

Step by step guides to teach you how to use this converter.
Step 1: Download the converter as per the links above, install and run it and then click "add file" to import the XAVC footages to the program.

Step 2: As shown here, we choose "Convert to" > "Final Cut Pro" > "Apple ProRes 422 MOV" as the output format

Step 3: Press "START" to launch the conversion automatically.

If you have any idea on the XAVC, give me your thoughts via Face book and Twitter feeds or the comments below. Appreciated!
