splash screen movie

Postby m6246 » Fri Apr 23, 2010 9:08 pm

I'd like to implement a splash screen in the form of an animation. As it would take a lot of PNG's to achieve the desired result, I was wondering if it is possible to convert the animation to a movie. Would that be an efficient way and more importantly, is is possible? (as it is a splash screen it should be shown fullscreen and not inside the native mediaplayer)

Of course this is possible. You can use MediaPlayer object to play movies in your application.

Thanks, initially I thought a Mediaplayer always contained a control overlay but this didn't seem to be the case. I successfully implemented the movie however the overall quality of the movie was unacceptable.

I ended up doing it the PNG way (50 of them), cropping them to only the visibly changed areas and using x,y coordinates to paste every piece back to its original place in the composition. Final size of the animation is 309kb.
