"Sorry, this video cannot be played" problem

Postby karrenhw » Tue Oct 19, 2010 8:58 pm

Hi,
I have an application that works perfectly on all of the Android devices we have tested. Except yesterday when I put it on my boss's brand new T-Mobile Vibrant. When the app tries to play the .m4v on his device, I get the following dialog. "Sorry, this video cannot be played.". When going to his files on his sd card the .m4v plays fine. Here is my code snippet.

try
{
mVideo.setVideoPath( "/sdcard/playoff.m4v" );
mVideo.start();
}
catch( Exception e )
{
Log.e(TAG, "error: " + e.getMessage(), e );
if( mVideo != null )
{
mVideo.stopPlayback();
}
}

As I said this works fine on many devices from different carriers. This is so weird. Any ideas? BTW: I've have used your site a lot. I want to thank you for all of the great knowledge and coding help. This is my first post.

Thanks in advance.

Please post your code in [ code ] tags [ /code ] , your more likely to a get a reply.

Have you checked that the sdcard on the Vibrantis located at "/sdcard/". You should really use an api call to get this, also check if the SD card is mounted at the time of playing?
