Problem pushing files onto sdcard

Postby hebbalhrk » Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:08 pm

i do push files onto sdcard using command
adb push "c:\video.3gp" /sdcard

but it says
243 KB/s (0 bytes in 321200.01s)

Please let me know how to move a file onto sdcard, also can i browse though the sdcard to see the contents.

Thanks in advance

I found it by myself, if there is anyone else who doesn't know, use ddms, it has a file explorer very easy to use. On my computer when i tried with cmd and i got an error, something related to read-only.

I have the same problem. When I try to use "adb push", I have the message

"failed to copy 'D:androidpic01.jpg' to 'D:androidsdcard.isopic01.jpg': Read-only file system"

I do the following:

D:android>mksdcard 1024M sdcard.iso

D:android>emulator -sdcard sdcard.iso

And then I try:

D:>adb push D:androidpic01.jpg D:androidsdcard.isopic01.jpg

What am I doing wrong?

Try to use ddms to push files into sd card, you just need to open ddms, then click on Device -> File Explorer, this will open a new window and there you select the sdcard and then press on the button "Push File onto Device" and that's all. This is how i did, i really don't know why adb push doesn't work, but the scenario described above it's a nice workaround :)

Thanks CiprianU!!!

It works fine!

But what I wrote was not correct, I've read about it at other topic.

Once the sdcard is mounted, I can not use "D:sdcard".
In fact, I need to reference the sdcard folder in the filesystem of android, not at my OS.

So, I should use "adb push D:pic01.jpg sdcard" or "adb push D:pic01.jpg /sdcard"

But really thanks, using ddms is pretty good :D

make sure that your sdcard.img file is not write protected (read-only) .. that is probably the cause of the error
