Playing a Flash file in Android

Postby Maxood » Fri Dec 11, 2009 1:27 pm

Does Android support flash? If yes then i need an example code to play a flash file. Wonder if we can play a flash file in WebView?
If flash is not supported in android, how come we have flash games on android:

This is the code i have for loading my webpages in a WebView. But no flash file is not supporting here

import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.KeyEvent;
import android.webkit.WebView;
import android.webkit.WebViewClient;

public class webtest extends Activity {
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
WebView webview;
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
webview = (WebView)findViewById(R.id.webview);
webview.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true);
//webview.loadUrl("http://70.32.88.156/opoly/game.swf?facebookid=1411388348&myname=arsalan");
//webview.loadUrl("http://www.youtube.com");
webview.loadUrl("http://maxood-android-corner.blogspot.com");
//webview.loadUrl("http://www.google.com");
//webview.enablePlatformNotifications();
webview.setWebViewClient(new HelloWebViewClient());

}
@Override
public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) {
if ((keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) && webview.canGoBack()) {
webview.goBack();
return true;
}
return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event);
}

private class HelloWebViewClient extends WebViewClient {
@Override
public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url) {
view.loadUrl(url);
return true;
}
}
}

HTC Hero supports Flash.

What proof do you have that those "games" are actually flash and not ported?

For all intents and purposes, Android does NOT support flash, with the HTC hero being the sole exception. And even then, may be limited to just the browser.

When Android does get flash, there will be MASSIVE amounts of news on it.

Android 2.2 will be supporting flash natively (there already has been massive news about it ;P its the front line in the Apple vs. Google heavyweight bout).

Until then, no. No Flash...

.. unless you wanna write a flash reader?
