Mute a VideoView?

Postby nioupy » Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:20 pm

Hi,

I have a small application where a video file could be played at the same time as a media file.
Namely, I have a video holder and a media player running at the same time.

Obviously, it's not a pleasure for the ears.

My aim is to mute only the VideoView. Is there a way to do that? I tried muting the STREAM_MUSIC with an audiomanager, but it does mute both at the same time.

I also managed to set the mediaplayer volume to 0, but it's not my aim...

If anyone has a guidance to how to reach my goal, I'd be glad to read about it :)

Thanks in advance for any help!

I found a solution:
basically I got rid of my VideoView and replaced it with a SurfaceView.
I then did a "copy and paste" job from that url where I learnt how to handle this kind of view to display video: http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/google- ... 94637.aspx

and before the mMediaPlayer..start(), I added a mMediaPlayer.setVolume(0, 0); in my code...

Problem solved :)
