Import mts file into imovie to easily edit mts video

Problem: Native AVCHD file support is the first thing I expected for the new iMovie. Does iMovie 11 support native AVCHD (.mts) files? Or it has the same painful way of importing and converting AVCHD files to the other format like iMovie 09? Is there any improvements for AVCHD file supports in iMovie 11?

Like the above guy, many mac users focus on the same topic that the newest iMovie version--iMovie 11---whether natively with self-owned camcorders and cameras, especially AVCHD camcorders. From the Apple Technology specification Page: http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en ... lang=en_US. iMovie 11 just has the additional compatibility with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod nano (5th generation), and iPod touch (4th generation). iMovie ’11 works with most Mini DV tape-based camcorders using DV and HDV formats, which use a FireWire cable (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) to transfer video. AVCHD camcorders seems not included. If you want to import MTS to iMovie for editing, even you use iMovie '11, you still need to use MTS to iMovie Converter to convert MTS files to iMovie compatible formats: .dv, .mov, .mp4, .m4v, etc.

There are three easy steps to convert MTS to iMovie with Doremisoft Mac Video Converter:
Step 1: Add MTS videos
Click the "Add File" button to browse your Mac hard disc and select the MTS videos you want to edit in iMovie.

Step 2: Select an iMovie video format as the output format
On the lower part of the interface, you can find the Profile field. Click the Arrow to the very right of the Profile field to open the Profile down-up list. From the opened list, move your mouse cursor to iMovie, and select an iMovie video format you prefer from the iMovie profiles.

Step 3: Convert MTS to iMovie
Click on the green Start button on the lower part of the application window to start the conversion of MTS to iMovie.

Tips: You can learn convert Sony Handycam to mac compatible video format. So you can achieve the goal of importing sony handycam to imovie.
