Game Music Looping and Transitioning

Postby seed » Thu Oct 21, 2010 5:33 pm

I can't make Soundpool loop music reliably. I am not even sure it is the best choice. I want to be able to loop game music and to have transitions between music tracks when the game environment changes.

As far as I can tell, I think I need to use the Jet Player for this, which means I am limited to MIDI files.

Has anyone reliably implemented glitch free music looping and transitioning for games and can you make any recommendations?

Thanks,
Seed

I'm looking into this problem to... I was intending to write the music using jet content but the vst plugin for creating your own midi sounds seems to not exist... literrally. Below it mentions the pluggin,

http://developer.android.com/guide/topi ... anual.html

"The first is application is any off-the-shelf MIDI sequencing application that supports VST (for PC) or AU (for Mac) plugins. Here the author will compose their MIDI music files using the plugin as the synthesizer device."

That pluggin doesn't exist. So now I'm leaning towards writing mp3s and looping but I've heard it's not reliable... No idea what the options are really... Google need to sort this out.
