Audio streaming

Postby fernandovalente » Thu Apr 14, 2011 5:04 am

I'm new to Android. As my first project, I'm trying to port a radio app I created to Android. I need to find a way to stream audio from a SHOUTcast/ICEcast station. I also want to be able to progressive download(AKA record) it! I Googled a lot, but I found nothing helpful. I want to stream MP3s, but preferable AAC and other formats too! I'm trying to target Android 1.5, but I don't mind if I have to target a newer version. In fact, I found a way, but I would have to extract the PCM data from the MP3/AAC file and I found no way to do that. Does anyone knows a way to create an audio streamer for Android?

Thanks in advanced!

The standard Android MediaPlayer class supports basic streaming. You can create a MediaPlayer object and call setDataSource() with the URL that you intend to stream...
