This is really amazing. Is it opensource? Where can I get the source code of the application.

Source will be open soon, for now there is the compiled APK to try around a bit.

Hi plusminus,

it's really awesome, what you've done here! I'm writing an application for an Android OSM-Editor and want to implement the "slippy-map" functionality, too. But I have no clue how to implement this... Can you help me? How did you made this in your OpenStreetMapView class?

I'm realy looking forward to try the OSM on an android phone with easyly editing the map.

good work if you release it as open source.
Just Google Maps is not good.

Thank you!

Hi all,

I quickly zipped a version for you devs, who want to have a look at the sources. This version is not heavily tested but should work well.

Nice, are you planning to maintain any sort of repository for this project?

Btw, I got 19 errors because of @override statement. This happens with all methods that are interface implementation.

Hello vishna,

you need to use JDK6 with Compliance Level also set to 6.
I've put it to GoogleCode: http://osmdroid.googlecode.com/

Nicolas

Are there no updates planed ?

I need for OSM work just this great application, only with an option to use a storage card as renderer.
There is not always a 3g connection in the middle of nowhere and there are great OSM tile downloaders available. My location with a follow function and storing tracks and it would make it nearly complete and great for OSM map creation.

Why is it not available in the Market?
And no binary downloads on the googlecode page either?

Hello everyone,

I just started using Android and I'll be working on a navigation application. For now it will suffice if the current position is showed (and updated) on the map (turn-by-turn navigation not required). I just found out today that this doesn't work with Google Maps so here I am.

How do I integrate OSMView into my development environment?

Project died?

Postby sureal » Wed Jun 17, 2009 5:28 pm

Hello,

i just wanted to ask if this interesting project is still alive? I'd like to use OSM for my android application, but I need an Android API for this. I wonder if development gets further, because in emulator the sample application stops showing the map tiles after a while. It then can only show those tiles which were loaded when tile-loading worked (at the beginning of the usage)

it would be fine to here this project is still active. If not, please give some hints if there are some other projects available who do the same stuff.

thanks

How does the integration into an own program works? Can I compile everything into my own application (how much bigger is the app going to be then) or do I have to install an OSM application which my app will use afterwards?

is there an API for the osmdroid libs? (http://code.google.com/p/osmdroid/) looks like i cant find any references :(.

can someone give me a small "hello world" example how to use this instead of the Google Maps API?
i tried to figure it out looking at the code of "bikeroute" but this is already very complex... all i need for the beginning is a simple OSM MapView which i can scroll/zoom.

PS: i use the 3.0 libs

edit: ok found the docs i was blind :). but could still use a little tutorial in how to use it
