Obtaining a Maps API Key is necessary to display Map

Postby waertf » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:07 am

Althought that the official website said that
Currently, the registration service for MapView is not yet active and Google Maps is not yet enforcing the Maps API Key requirement. for Android 1.0 SDK, Release 1
, I find that the Maps API key is necessary for MapView to display Map for Android 1.0 SDK, Release 1 version
here the way to receive a Maps API Key

anyone able to tell me what i'm doing wrong?

is it because of the gaps in the path? can i just move the debug.keystore file to a location where the path has no spaces or what else do i have to move with it?

Put the path in quotes and it will do fine:

Code: Select all
C:Program Files>Javajre1.6.0_05binkeytool -list -alias androiddebugkey -keystore "C:Documents and SettingsDonalLocal SettingsApplication DataAndroiddebug.keystore" -keystore android -keypass android

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1. keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Keystore file does not exist:
Parsed in 0.031 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

I can't seem to find that Keystore file anywhere in my computer.. what should I do? :/

It's seems you have wrong path to your key.

1. In my case I relocate my debug.keystore to D:/proj/android/keys folder.

2. After that execute cmd:
keytool.exe -list -alias androiddebugkey -keystore D:\proj\Android\keys\debug.keystore -storepass android -keypass android

3. You will see Certificate fingerprint (MD5): 56:44:A0:EA:47:39:46:9D:8D:9B:CA:52:30:A7:C1:60

I'm not sure if JDK compatible with Windows 7, but you should found keytool in JDK.
Try to search at SUN web site for windows 7 JDK
