did someone figure out how to use the PixelConverter (Overview of Changes says: "MapView.PixelCalculator was moved out into its own class PixelConverter") in the new SDK? The class is only visible in its own package...

Look at the api for the Overlay class you can see the draw method:

There is a note there about using getProjection() :

the MapView that requested the draw. Use getProjection() to convert between on-screen pixels and latitude/longitude pairs.

So I think there was an error in the Change Log. Its Projection not PixelConverter.
