Obtaining a Maps API Key is necessary to display Map

Postby waertf » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:09 am

Althought that the official website said that
Currently, the registration service for MapView is not yet active and Google Maps is not yet enforcing the Maps API Key requirement. for Android 1.0 SDK, Release 1
, I find that the Maps API key is necessary for MapView to display Map for Android 1.0 SDK, Release 1 version
here the way to receive a Maps API Key

The key check is skipped for file:// and http://localhost/. You could
use the key that you intend to use on your live domain, or anything
else.

If you use a port number with localhost, then you can obtain a key for
"http://localhost:1234".

On any domain other than file://, localhost, and domains owned by Google
(such as GooglePages), a key is required.
