How to get and handle GPS data in background?

Postby jenna-fin » Mon May 16, 2011 7:04 am

Hi,

I am making a Google- Maps api for Android tablet and I got a little problem...
How can I get and handle GPS- data in the background? I have googled around and found few solutions like threads, loopers, handlers.. Which one of these is the best and how exactly do I use it (I'm quite a beginner with java)? The goal is that the app would read (locationlistener()) and update (draw()) user's location on map without slowing down other activities done on map (scrolling it around.. opening dialogs.. etc.). The app also sends device's location to server. Or should I do the sending in the background instead of GPS- reading?

Halp! Thanks in advance...

Solved it... I created a thread that sends out current location data, onLocationChanged event changes the current location..
