Getting a Map Key

Postby iaindownie » Wed Feb 09, 2011 5:01 pm

Hi,
looking for a bit of clarity from the forum. I have developed an app, and have an eclipse debug map key working (on emulator and when debug through my phone), but the app is also signed to a particular keystore when I build the apk.

When I get to publish my app, I need to get a map key from a certificate produced against my own keystore. Correct, according to all literature I've seen.

Is there any way to test this final step? It seems a big leap of faith to publish without knowing if my new key is going to work?

Or, can I publish locally to my phone with the new key, then turn debug mode on the phone off, and try the app?

Hope someone can re-assure me!
Cheers

You can Export the apk using your productive key and keystore. Copy the resulting apk file to your phone. You can install the file by opening it from a file explorer. Then you should be able to see the map if you set the correct key.
