Well.... your code works for me, so the problem must be in the set up some where... Are you using eclipse and an emulator?

Alright...I will keep working on it. I have a lot to develop on my app, and this is just one part, so I guess I'll just come back to this issue when I need to.

And yes, I am using eclipse and emulator.

Out of curiosity, what SDK were you using when it worked. I was trying to get it to work with 1.5API.

I was using the Google APIs Level 1.6 but 1.5 should work just make sure it is the Google API and not the plain vanilla APIs. It is tricky because eclipse has the google API built in so the classes load and behave correctly in the IDE but won't load on the emulated phone. The phone has to be configured with the maps.jar )the Google extensions) for it to work.

You can tell if you have it right in the package explorer if The Google APIs [1.6] node contains the android.jar and the maps.jar

Good luck... Larry

I tried to run this with the avd Google APIs 1.5, 1.6 and 2.1

No errors, compiling works and the installation works fine too, but if the app starts it crashes with this error.

My problem is LogCat do not show any messages it is just blank. How can I debug problems like these in future and now?

I am also a little bit confused, found this two tutorials on google, but which ist the right one?

I was having the same problem I realized that I needed to have my activity extend the MapActivity class instead of just Activity. once i changed that i can add a map view easily.
