How do antibiotic resistant genes work in bacteria? I know that some antibiotic resistant genes create either antibiotic degrading enzymes or antibiotic altering enzymes to reduce the effiency of antibiotics. I want to know what these genes and enzymes are called. I would also like to know if there is any other way for an antibiotic to become resistance to antibiotics.
