G2 and Hero

G2 and Hero

Postby Sean Chan » Mon Aug 03, 2009 9:35 pm

Hi Guys,
I'm pretty new to the android platform and to this site, so I was wondering what your opinions were about the upcoming G2 and Hero.

The video of the Hero UI seem to be amazing but the phone also seems to be quite underpowered.
Would the extra ram really help? or will the G2 suffice? OR should I stick with the original G1

I thought the G2 and the Hero were the same thing?

From what I heard and read the Hero has a nice UI, people have different oppinions about the "chin" on the lower side of the phone. It seems to have a 2+ years old processor and lacks RAM so if you run a lot of widgets or apps it will slow down. They say that the Sense UI is perfect but the hardware is too slow for it.

A better hardware should be offered by Samsungs new android phone.

oh hahah I meant the Magic (myTouch in US) and the Hero

If we look at the datasheet for the galaxy here it seems to have the same processor as the Hero.

Then my next question is: Is the Sense UI hardware independent? I mean someone did get it working on the G1

Yes, it is all software. HTC did not release their Sense UI as open source but as far as I know some (presumably illegal) ports exist.

I have the Hero for about 2 weeks now and i love it!
android is awsome but the HTC Sense UI makes it incredible!
It works verry good, is verry stable and easy to use.
it fits nice in your hand and the touchscreen works good.
don't know what else to say about it for now but i strongly recomend the Hero ;)

My only question is then, do you experience any lag.
People on you tube keep saying that it lags :(
