What location should I use for the Challenge?

Postby don » Sun Feb 03, 2008 10:24 pm

I am writing an app for the Android Challenge that uses some LBS. Does anyone if there is a specific location I should use for the challenge? I know the SDK comes with a basic location in San Francisco, I also seem to remember something about building any custom locations in Chicago (though I can't find that anywhere now). So, for the challenge, does anyone know if you can build any locationManager or if you are supposed to use the default. If you can build a custom, does the area matter?

Thanks for any help.

Hello don,

limitation challenge submissions to the emulator built in mock location provider would be nonsense in my view. Same meaning on which area to choose.

You can make use of the useful TrackBuilder for mock location providers to prodcue a new one.
Or this one using just your Desktop-PC and GoogleMaps to produce a *.kml-File.

It would be more a very little plus if you show that you a.) can build your own mock-location provider and b.) your application works not only with the default one.

Thanks +/-

Good point about demonstrating extending the app to other locations.

Thanks again.
