Hi there,

There is a Linux 2.6 Kernel running on the very base of the android platform.
You can find information right > :idea: here :idea: < in this board.

Hi everyone,

you have to know that you can install and run Android on every handy which is able to run a linux 2.6 kernel. That's what the developers tell us in the vidz!
If there is a mobile out there which is able to do this, i wanna do a test, no matter what that phone costs ;)

Hi folks!

First of all I like the android approach from Google very much Im looking forward to work with the software.

@madmax
you should checkout the OpenMoko. This also sounds like a very nice Project to me. Unfortunately for my kind of taste the screen of this phone is rather small and im not sure if its availabe for buying yet.

cheers

In the meantime, you can always use the Android emulator, it works rather well.

On linuxdevices.com there is a simple File Explorer example for Android:

http://linuxdevices.com/articles/AT6247038002.html

I modified it slightly, to be able to read text files. /proc/version on the emulator shows:

Linux version 2.6.23-gcc3bc3b4 (arve@arvelnx.corp.google.com) (gcc version 4.2.1) #3 Tue Oct 30 16:28:18 PDT 2007
