Touch Event

Postby alcstudio » Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:56 pm

Hey there. Didnt know where to put this topic so this should be the right place :P

Iam wondering if its possible to build a app och want we should call it.

I have a idea of how it will work. It will work like this:

When you want to lock the phone you draw a circle on the display clockwise

and when you want to unlock it you draw a circle the opposit of clockwise.

Hello alcstudio,

yes it is possible, but you can only 'listen' for touch-events while your own app is running.

Okay. Do you have a point in the right direction where to start..

So you mean that i can create this app but the function will only be "ON" when the app is running.. It whould be cool if it always chould run in the background.

I too am developing a gesture recognition project at the moment, and i wanted to do the same thing you asked a while ago. (Being able to capture all touch events on the phone even if there is no special foreground app running). Unfortunately i couldn't find at which point those motions are propagated to the window manager and if they can be intercepted or not. I posted some messages at development boards but couldnt get a reply. So I still do not know if its possible, I hope you can find a way.
(Btw, if you develop your own home screen app, you may be able to capture at least in the home screen i guess. But a foreground app will still take them..)
