Motorola Droid 2D FPS drops to 30hz after 2.1 update?

Postby MichaelEGR » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:51 pm

Greets folks..

I just manually installed 2.1 on my Droid and Android 2D API performance dropped to 30hz from 60hz. I have a test app that has a 60hz callback, but shows the actual display FPS too. The callback is still happening at 60hz, but actual FPS is 30hz.. This only occurred after the 2.1 update and a little bit of a head scratcher as it is 60hz on the G1 and N1 with 2.1.... Hrm... Me thinks it's a problem unless a reason pops up, but I haven't seen one yet..

Interestingly enough OpenGL apps still reports 60 FPS, so I'm curious on the Android 2D API change.

Anyone still have a Droid with 2.0.1 that wants to install a small/simple test app to show 2D FPS? You can manually do the update or wait for the OTA. I thought we were done with the shenanigans with the Droid after 2.0.1!

Thanks for the help...

It's confirmed....

Motorola you suck! I'm seriously not going to hold back anymore... Wait until I launch TyphonRT and the blog.. I will hold back no punches when companies suck this bad. All I had to do was run my app and immediately it was obvious the "suckage". What the hell? How can a big corporation w/ likely boundless QA (comparatively to me as a single dev also doing QA) miss this?
