Max Supported Memory?

Postby xMemphisx » Thu Aug 21, 2008 7:27 pm

I couldn't find too much on this... but when i was looking at flash memory the other day, i saw 32GB SD cards. Will android be able to suppord the high capacity cards like this?

What does that have to do with it? :P

Anyways, I think that depends on the hardware, but I am not sure.

Well thank you for your sarcastic remarks... i appreciate it from all of you.

No... what i really meant... was what the filesystem will support? Fat only supports 32GB... i know the ZFS that OS X uses supports 16TB, but i wasn't sure what android was capable of supporting... i know it's linux... i know it's an os...

Since it is a open source you could change it for the specific hardware you want. So I don't think it will have a major long term limit.

As for the first phones limit I don't know.

I know the sd image maker will start making an image over 64GB image in practice. I did not let it finish or mount it though.

I almost forgot that one of the Google engineers said don't expect more than 256MB SD for the first phones.

So you might ask the Google developer thread
