Learning php & mySQL - where ?

Postby ramgraph1 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 9:54 am

I prepared a very simple php-file on my server

Any recommended sites for a total novice learning about php and MySQL? I've looked around the Web a good bit but most of what I have seen offers a huge amount of info that goes really deep and complex. At this point I'd like to learn the bare essentials - the quick and cheap way. Just enough to be able to try out the tut above and move on gradually from there...

Hello ramgraph,

I could only suggest you some good sheets about sql in German language ;)
Did a short search and the following looks well structured from the outside:
 http://www.php-mysql-tutorial.com/

Let us know if it a useful source. :)

Hi,

most of the time for learning the standards of web coding (php, asp, html, css, etc.) I recommend using w3schools. They keep all the standards of the code's so they know it the best ;-)

PHP Turtorial
http://w3schools.com/php/default.asp

As you can see on the left side of the page it also contains PHP in combination with MySQL.

For more specifications of a specific function you could check out
www.php.net

Hope this will inform you good enough.
