Korean Market distribution

Postby pmws » Sat Feb 13, 2010 12:12 pm

Hey,

today I got an email from Korea:

"I work at Ubinuri in Korea, which distributes overseas applications in Korea through its own app store and mobile service operator’s app store.

Korean mobile service operators just launched the first android phone in Korea last week (3~5 million android phone users to be expected by the end of this year). They plan to focus their own Application Stores as main distribution channels instead of depending on the Android Market.

In this regard, Ubinuri wants to distribute your paid applications in Korea. We would fully localize, promote, and sell your applications through Application Stores in Korea, or directly to mobile service operators and Smart Phone vendors subject to your agreement.

I addition, I would like to request your approval for Ubinuri's provision of information (screenshots and product features) in Korean language and download link service for your free applications at the Application Stores in Korea.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon."

Has anyone experiance with this company ? I dont want to get screwd over from overseas....
I have a similar mail from a chinese company called Netdragon Websoft Inc. . Anybody doing buisness with them ?

If it's gonna take this long to deal with them, I may not bother.

I've now gotten two emails for the same product, probably because there was about a week between two versions. But looking at these posts, and how slow they apparently are at getting back to someone, I'd say they aren't worth dealing with..

i stand corrected. they just emailed me. but its as if a conversation never occurred. this time the email is different:

Hi,

My name is Scott Jeon who is manager of overseas relationship in Ubinuri, Inc..

I would like to propose you to sell “Find My Car” in Korea.

But, in order to sell your application at the local app stores in Korea, you are requested to implement ARM (Application Digital Right Management) plugin to your application, which would cause you additional efforts. In this regard, Ubinuri is willing to compensate you in advance for your additional efforts to implement the ARM.

I would appreciate it if you could review following proposal and let me know your thought.

1) Implementation of ARM (Application Digital Right Management)

- In order to sell apps through Korean app stores, developers are requested to implement ARM specified by the operator of each app store.

- Ubinuri will pay 300 USD for implementing ARM of one of the local app store in Korea, on the above application.

2) Payment

Ubinuri shall pay 60% of the Net revenue (excluding returns, refunds, and Tax) to the developer for the sales from app stores in Korea.

But, Ubinuri shall pay 50% of the Net revenue for the sales of the above application at the above app store in which the mentioned ARM is applied.

If you are interested in the above proposal, I will send the detailed information on ARM.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,

Scott

I'm still backing out of the deal. Things seem too fishy for me.

Hey guys,

I got a similar e-mail a few days ago and have been digging around to try and find more information since. I found a company that appears to have done business with these people and I have sent an e-mail asking how things went and such. I'll let you guys know what happens for your reference and anyone else's who comes across this.
