installation of Eclipse

Postby MCinPgh » Tue Aug 30, 2011 4:46 pm

Just wondering the order of installation steps to get started, I have done the following this week in this order:
1. Installed the latest java JDK
2. Installed the Android SDK

What's next? I assume that I have to install Eclipse.
I see on the SDK page that there is a plugin for Eclipse, assume I need to have Eclipse installed first.
If yes is there a version of Eclipse specifically created for Android developers?
I see that there is also a plugin for Eclipse.

any feedback appreciated

thanks

Hello,

Basically, installing Eclipse has four steps and these are:

Install the Java 5.0 software.
Install the Eclipse 3.1 software (It does not includes Java 5.0).
Launch Eclipse.
Install a set of plugins designed especifically for courses taught in the Dept of Computer Science.

After you have done all those four steps you are ready to use it.

thanks, got it all.
Ready to start creating projects now.

I've been doing .Net coding for the last 6 years but I'm looking to learn Android development now in my spare time. What's that about Comp Sci course plugins?

First make sure that your computer meets the system requirement.
Secondly install android SDK.
Third step is install ADT plugin for Eclipse.
Fourth is add Android platforms and other components to your SDK.
