HOME Menu Button

Hi ,
I am working on android as a beginner.
I am trying to handle hardware HOME Menu button through code but i am unable to handle an event.
Is there any solution so that i can able to handle so life cycle says it goes to pause state and from pause to create
again.
1)Initially i launched an application it launched properly then i tap on hardware Menu button.it domes to home screen.
2)Now when i launches an app secondtime my splash screen get freezes.
What may be the problem and what may be suitable solution its urgent please guide me .

Afaik if you want to override the home button behaviour, you cannot do it programmatically without changing the Android core code - for the home button it's defined in PhoneWindowManager.java

Somebody found a solution to do it programatically, but in my tests it didn't work (on emulator, 2.1 avd). The API part might be deactivated (API removed as mentioned by one Google engineer) anyway. See this post:
