Hello and Help :)Hello

Postby Naughty_Ottsel » Thu Oct 15, 2009 6:49 pm

Hello everyone. First of all great forum here, I had been thinking about developing for Android for a while and after finding this site have decided to give Android a try.

However I have no Java experience, & very little C/C++ experience.

I do however have a reasonable understanding of ObjC and iPhone OS Development.

So I am asking what is the best root to take in starting development for Android. I am looking at the Hello Android Tutorial, and must say that really attracted me to developing for Android.

Thanks in Advance

I suggest you this e-book

e-book :)

I think one of the most important thing in learning andoird for a beginner, is to understand xml layouts, then how to reference the layout objects in the code.
Then for a beginner of java, how to implement a listener , souch onclicklistener. and maybe how to implement the mvc pattern in java.

Try to make a button that open a dialog. In this dialog there is a list view composed by images and text (each row). When you click a item in the listview, show a quick message that say "hello word" and return to the button view ....
that's only an example of a more complex hello word, that can give you stronger bases :)
