Postby daisy_deepa » Wed Nov 05, 2008 11:31 am

Hi All,
http://code.google.com/android/what-is-android.html
"In the features of android - Optimized graphics powered by a custom 2D graphics library; 3D graphics based on the OpenGL ES 1.0 specification (hardware acceleration optional).
In which hardware acceleration optional represents what?"

Thanx & Regards,

It represents the fact that not every mobile device has a 3D hardware acceleration, yet 3D is possible by software emulation on those devices!

Thanx for your reply.

Does the software graphics acceleration support available in android for HVGA, QVGA and for the WVGA devices?
If it is not present then do we need to write drivers to bring this features when we port this in to the new chipset?
Does this also invoves making changes to OpenGL ES1.0 libraries?

You'd always have to write drivers/kernel modules when you want to run Android on different hardware.
