Difference Intent - Method

Postby AnnnonnA » Sun Sep 11, 2011 8:22 pm

Hello,

I had a discussion with one of my collegues what the difference between a normal Method(known from non android applications) and an Intent is.

Can you please share your thoughts about it.

With friendly regards,
Tim

Hi AnnnonnA,
Actually there is a big difference between methods and intents. In android, intents are more like events. The events from JAVA, Actionscript or from other language. The intent tell us about some action which will be triggered from some activities or services. And method is a block of code which performs a specific task when it is called. So like other languages, Android has methods. And of course, Android is based on JAVA technology, so you can sense everything same as JAVA. Although it is tweaked for this mobile platform (here intent is just like an event in JAVA).

Hope it will help you. :)

Thanks.
Android is awesome!
