developing plug.in-like functions 4 android web browser

Postby bob arctor » Fri May 09, 2008 9:16 am

In case it’s feasible, I wonder what is easiest way to add further
functions/buttons to android web browser; otherwise, I’d appreciate to hear
from you on how hard it can be to develop my own android-based web
browser from scratch, with its own buttons/functions...

waiting for superb replies ;)

Hello bob,

It is really easy, as there is the WebView-Widget that in a way is a browser without buttons. Example:
Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1.                 WebView w = new WebView(this); // create webview
  2.
  3.                 w.loadData(data, mimeType, encoding); // open a webpage
  4.
  5.                 w.goBack(); // i.e. place on buttonclick
Parsed in 0.030 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

But, with that code, I get the message 'application error; an error has occurred. unable to instantiate activity
ComponentInfo{com.android.web/com.android.web.WebView}: java.lang.ClasNotFoundException: com.android.web.WebView in loader android.lang.PathClasLoader@4005e9c0'

thanks,
