I have just got an 'HTC-branded' HTC magic but not sure on how to update my phone.

In the event when Google releases patches to the Operating System, how would I be able to update my phone? Will it be performed over the air? Or do I have to manually download the patches and update it myself?

How would I know whether my HTC magic supports OTA update?
