Adding new Contact Method to Contact Screen?

Postby aplocher » Fri Nov 16, 2007 7:26 pm

Hello, does anybody know if it's possible to add a new contact method to the Contacts screen with a new application handler? For example: if you go to Contacts, select a contact, it'll show you options like "Call" or "Email". What if I want to add a new method called "Chat" that launches a third party application, is this possible?

I read one thing on googles site that briefly mentions changing the Email contact method to use a different email client. I don't recall which article it was, and they didn't provide any samples.

Thanks!

Hi,

you mean like changing the existing Contacts-App to show an extra-button :?:

Hm don't think that this will be easy.
Changing the Mail-Client that reacts on the Email-Intent wont be that hard, as its described in the video-"tuts" provided by Google (or somewhere in the Google-Tuts, where they say: "Extremely Late-Binding Roxx" ;) ).

Hope I could help you.
