Access Hardware through Browser

Postby liradev » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:45 pm

First of all: Hello to all of you! I am new here and hope to "get and give" some great help and answers ;).

Maybe it is a bad question:
I wanted to know if it is possible to access the hardware through a browser? For my purpose I need to access the WiFi hardware.

Thanks in advance,

So, I have finally found an answer to my question.

There are possibilities to access the hardware of the phone.

Phonegap is such an example which access this via JavaScript.
Here you can see the which features are supported:

A scribd user called enopen has published a paper, where he explains how this access is done.

Without a self programmed API you won't be able to access the hardware of your device.
But be careful, this is only needed when you need to access the hardware via the webbrowser. Otherwise I recommend to develop a native application where it is much easier to access the hardware via the Android API.

Cheers,

hi, i want to know one thing..

i developed a web application that calls inbuilt MediaPlayer and plays the audio. I used phonegap, but when i deploy it on server it doesn't work because i didn't know where to put the phonegap.0.9.4.jar file in the server. Phonegap docs contain how to prepare apk and publish in market but didn't mention about deploying in server.. Please advice.. Thank you..
